As an organisation of disabled people and carers, control rests with disabled people and carers.

This is achieved by a membership structure in which only disabled people and their carers can become full voting members.

Non disabled allies are welcome to join as associate members and lend their support if they are in agreement with our stated aims.

An elected Management Committee of full members manage and oversee the day to day affairs of the organisation on behalf of the membership.

Our Mission Statement

E.L.I.T.E is an organisation of disabled people and carers working to elimate the barriers preventing disabled people from living full and independent lives.

Our Values - We believe disabled people should be in control of their lives, organisations and choices. We believe in being;

  • welcoming
  • accessible
  • inclusive
  • supportive

Our Aims

  • to promote inclusive attitudes
  • to make the voice of disabled people heard
  • to increase awareness of disability issues within the community
  • to advocate for disabled people and encourage and empower them to advocate for themselves
  • to build partnerships with service providers (statutory, commercial and voluntary)
  • to ensure disabled people have access to information and services
