PEER SUPPORT

E.L.I.T.E Peer Support offers friendly, informal, but confidential support to elderly, less-able, disabled people and carers of our local communities - supporting independent living and community inclusion. It is distinctive in being provided for disabled people and carers by disabled people and carers.
Peer support is not revolutionary... it builds on something many of us both experience and provide naturally in our day-to-day lives... When we share experiences and feelings with other people in similar situations, we often feel empathy for each other's difficulties and offer informal peer support and understanding.
Peer Support can provide space for you to talk about what's bothering you to someone who is outside the immediate situation, and in doing so can help you to clarify what you're really feeling, and what your options are.
Peer Supporters won't claim to know the answers or tell you what to do, but they will do their best to support you in finding your own answers, and can, if necessary, point you in the direction of other more formal sources of support.
